At Healing America’s Heroes, we harness the power of equine therapy to help veterans and first responders navigate the challenges of PTSD, military sexual trauma (MST), and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Our program provides a safe, structured, and healing environment where participants engage in hands-on interactions with horses to promote emotional resilience, trust, and personal growth.
Horses are intuitive, non-judgmental partners that respond to human emotions, offering immediate feedback in a way that fosters self-awareness, confidence, and stress reduction. Through groundwork exercises, grooming, and guided riding sessions, participants develop skills in communication, leadership, and emotional regulation, all while reconnecting with a sense of peace and purpose.
Our equine therapy sessions are not about riding—it's about healing. Whether working with horses on the ground or in the saddle, the experience provides a therapeutic outlet for overcoming trauma, managing anxiety, and rebuilding trust in oneself and others.
By integrating equine-assisted therapy into our broader mission, Healing America’s Heroes offers a unique path to
recovery—one built on the profound connection between humans and horses, helping those who have served find renewed strength, balance, and well-being.

This afternoon, a fire broke out just west of our facility near Fort Stanton. Thanks to the swift response from firefighters, hotshot crews, and local emergency teams, the fire was diverted away from Healing America’s Heroes.
